A Monarch Story
It all happened one day when I was out by the horse pen where there were Milkweeds. My little brother Seth found a Monarch caterpillar on some Milkweed near there, so I went to look. Luck was with me and I found two of them!! Yellow and black stripes with two horns on each end. I brought them home on some Milkweed plant leaves and put them in an aquarium, which had screen like lid. After a week or so they climbed up to the top and hung from a thread, later hardening in to the chrysalis. The chrysalis are a light green color, that are kind of see - through. After two weeks went by you could see their wings through the chrysalis, and we even watched them hatch out!! Their wings are tiny and wet when they get out, and as they dry the get bigger, and flap them around. You can let them crawl on your fingers, and then after they get strong enough they fly off.
We have some up close pictures of them on my finger tips, and in the grass. They are so beautiful.
