Susie R. says she uses adding machine tape (1-1/2") to make 3-D Stars .

Tips for 3-D stars:

If you decide to make them here are some tips:

*You don't need to buy special paper from an online store. I use one and a half inch white adding machine paper and split the paper down the middle so that I have 3/4" strips. I cut my strips so that they are 24" long. Adding machine tape is the perfect weight paper for this project.

*Paraffin can be dangerous to work with. I got better (and faster) results with a clear spray finish purchased at a craft store (like Krylon). Place stars in a cardboard box, spray and then sprinkle on the glitter while the Krylon is still wet. Let dry, and then turn the stars over and spray and glitter the other side.

*Use fancy iridescent glitter or coarse white mylar glitter--avoid the cheap metallic gold and silver glitter, it just doesn't look as nice.

*I needed to work through the directions for the stars from several websites before I understood how to make the stars. It took me about two days to "get it". Don't give up. Once you know how to do it, you can teach your children really quickly. My children have have had great fun making these.

Happy Holidays!  Merry Christmas!
